The Madonna Della Strada shrine in the Oak tree grove behind the Jesuit Community refers to the first Jesuit Church in Rome, containing a much-loved image of “Our Lady of the Street.” Just as the mother of Jesus with her son care for all people, the Church was a location of service to all, including some people who literally lived and worked “in the street.”
